New Delhi — Bharti Airtel has rolled out a refreshed set of prepaid recharge plans that pair unlimited 4G and 5G data with access to more than 20 over-the-top streaming platforms, with the entry-level option priced under ₹350. The launch arrives on the same day that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India published December 2025 subscription data showing Airtel added 5.43 million net wireless subscribers during the month — roughly 83 per cent more than Reliance Jio’s 2.96 million additions.
The December result marked the first time since January 2025 that Airtel overtook Jio on net subscriber growth, according to TRAI figures released on 10 February 2026.

What the refreshed plans offer
Airtel’s updated prepaid lineup centres on what the company calls its All-in-One OTT Entertainment Packs. Each plan bundles voice, data, and streaming under a single recharge.
The ₹349 plan — positioned as the most affordable OTT-inclusive option — carries a 28-day validity and provides 2 GB of daily 4G data alongside unlimited 5G data where available. It includes unlimited voice calls across local, STD, and roaming networks, 100 SMS per day, and 28-day access to Airtel Xstream Play Premium. That subscription covers more than 20 OTT channels, among them Sony LIV, Lionsgate Play, Aha, Chaupal, Hoichoi, and Sun NXT. Airtel has also attached Adobe Express Premium access, a Perplexity Pro AI subscription valid for 12 months, and a free Apple Music subscription of up to six months.
Two higher-tier plans at ₹399 and ₹449, both with 28-day validity, now carry unlimited 4G and 5G data with a commercial fair-usage limit of 300 GB over 30 days. The ₹399 plan includes basic Airtel Xstream Play access alongside Adobe Express Premium, a Perplexity Pro AI subscription for 12 months, and free HelloTunes. The ₹449 plan steps up to Airtel Xstream Play Premium with access to 20-plus OTT platforms, and adds Google One with 30 GB of cloud storage, JioHotstar Mobile access, Sony LIV, Apple Music for up to six months, and HelloTunes.
For users seeking longer validity, a 56-day plan bundles 3 GB of daily data, unlimited 5G, Amazon Prime Lite, Sony LIV, and access to over 20 OTT platforms, along with Adobe Express Premium.
Subscriber growth and market context
TRAI data for December 2025 places Jio’s total wireless subscriber base at 489.05 million and Airtel’s at 463.38 million, narrowing the gap between the two operators. Vodafone Idea’s subscriber base contracted to 198.77 million after losing 9.4 lakh users during the month.
India’s total wireless subscriber base stood at 1.258 billion at the end of December, with broadband connections crossing one billion for the first time, reaching 1,007.35 million. In the 5G fixed wireless access segment, Airtel added 3.06 lakh FWA subscribers during December, slightly ahead of Jio’s 2.76 lakh additions — maintaining its lead in FWA for the second consecutive month, according to TRAI.
A caveat applies: Airtel began including machine-to-machine cellular connections in its wireless subscriber reporting from December 2025 onward, which contributed to its higher net addition figure. Airtel holds a 61.31 per cent share of the M2M segment, with 66.95 million connections.
Impact on consumers
The bundled approach allows prepaid users to access premium streaming content without separate OTT subscriptions — a cost consideration at a time when standalone streaming plans from platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Sony LIV have risen in price. With mobile number portability requests touching 16.12 million in December alone, aggressive plan pricing and content bundling remain central to subscriber retention and acquisition strategies across the sector.
