Traffic Plan & Advisory for December 19: NH-44 and Other Key Routes in J&K

Jammu/Srinagar: The Traffic Police Headquarters, Jammu and Kashmir, has issued a traffic plan and advisory for December 19 to guide commuters and travellers on major highways and key roads across the Union Territory.

Motorists are advised to check road and weather conditions before starting their journey, especially on routes prone to congestion or weather-related disruptions.

Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44)

Traffic movement on Jammu-Srinagar national Highway (NH-44) has been slow in recent hours due to single-lane stretches, breakdown of heavy vehicles, and increased traffic load at some locations.

Authorities have advised travellers to:

  • Prefer daytime travel wherever possible
  • Maintain lane discipline and avoid overtaking
  • Follow instructions from traffic personnel on the ground

Movement of vehicles will remain subject to road and weather conditions.

Advisory for Other Routes

Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag Road (NH-244):
Traffic will be allowed only if weather and road conditions remain favourable and as per coordination between traffic authorities.

Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumri Road:
Movement will be regulated and permitted depending on visibility and road safety assessments.

Mughal Road:
Traffic between Jammu–Poonch and Shopian–Herpora will be allowed only after clearance from road maintenance and safety agencies.

Travel Guidelines for Commuters

  • Check real-time traffic updates before travelling
  • Avoid unnecessary stops on narrow or single-lane sections
  • Ensure vehicles are road-worthy, especially during winter conditions
  • Follow traffic advisories issued by local Traffic Control Units

Traffic authorities will continue to monitor road conditions and regulate movement to ensure safety.

ADVISORY :-
People are advised to undertake journey only after confirming status of the road from Traffic control units as under:-
• Jammu (0191-2459048, 0191- 2740550, 9419147732, 103)
