๐จ Big Update for Central Government Employees & Pensioners!
The central government has made it clear that 18 months’ pending Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) arrears will not be released. The Union Finance Ministry has confirmed this in Parliament.
๐น Why Is DA Arrears Not Being Paid?
๐ During the COVID-19 pandemic, the government froze three DA & DR installments to manage financial stress and welfare programs.
๐ Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary stated that due to the economic impact of the pandemic, the government will not release these arrears.
๐ The three withheld DA hikes (Jan 2020, Jul 2020, Jan 2021) were resumed in July 2021, but arrears for the frozen period will not be given.
๐ข Current DA Rate: 53%
โ As per the 7th Pay Commission, DA & DR for central employees and pensioners is 53%.
โ DA is revised twice a year (January & July).
โ The next DA hike is expected in March 2025 (for January-June 2025 period).
๐น 8th Pay Commission Approved!
โ PM Modi has approved the formation of the 8th Pay Commission.
โ Expected to be implemented in 2026 after reviewing salary and pension structures.
โ This will benefit over 50 lakh central government employees & 65 lakh pensioners.

๐ While 18-month arrears wonโt be paid, employees can expect a DA hike soon.
๐ The 8th Pay Commission will bring further salary revisions in the coming years.
