New Delhi: Google Pay, in partnership with Axis Bank, has introduced Flex by Google Pay, a new UPI-powered digital credit card designed to make credit usage as simple as everyday UPI payments.
Built on the RuPay network, Flex allows users to make payments using credit at UPI-enabled merchants, combining the convenience of UPI with the flexibility of a credit card — all within the Google Pay app.
What Is Flex by Google Pay?
Flex is a completely digital credit card, meaning users do not need a physical card to get started. Once approved, the card can be accessed directly inside the Google Pay app and used instantly for payments.
Users can scan UPI QR codes or pay online just like a normal UPI transaction, but the amount is charged to their credit limit instead of their bank account.

UPI Payments on Credit
Flex allows users to make UPI payments using a credit line, making it easier to manage expenses without relying on cash or debit balances.
Fully Digital Application
The application process is paperless and can be completed within the Google Pay app, offering faster approvals compared to traditional credit cards.
Instant Rewards System
Users earn instant rewards known as Stars on eligible transactions. These rewards can be redeemed for future Flex payments, offering simple and transparent benefits.
Flexible Repayment Options
Cardholders can choose to pay the full bill or convert eligible spends into EMIs, all managed through the Google Pay app.
In-App Card Management
Users can track spending, view statements, manage limits, and control card settings directly within Google Pay.

While UPI adoption in India is widespread, credit card usage remains relatively limited. Flex by Google Pay aims to bridge this gap by offering easy access to credit through a familiar UPI interface, especially for users who may be new to credit cards.
