Students who have successfully passed Class 12 are now entering a crucial phase of their academic journey—choosing subjects and pathways for higher education. This decision should be made wisely, keeping the student’s own interests, aptitude, and long-term goals in mind.
Students are strongly advised not to select subjects due to peer pressure or trends. Choosing Medical, Engineering, or any other stream simply because friends are doing so can negatively impact a student’s future. Similarly, parents are requested not to force their children into specific subjects against their interests. A career built on genuine interest and capability always leads to better outcomes than one chosen due to pressure or social trends.
Many students risk their careers by blindly following trends without understanding their own strengths. Therefore, it is essential that students carefully evaluate what they truly want to pursue and choose subjects accordingly.
Along with subject selection, choosing the right college or university is equally important. Students should thoroughly research institutions before taking admission—reviewing aspects such as NAAC accreditation, national or international ranking, academic offerings, infrastructure, faculty, and placement records, including placement percentage and industry exposure.
There are also several educational scholarship opportunities available for students from Jammu & Kashmir. One of the most important schemes is JKPMSS (Jammu & Kashmir Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme), under which eligible students can receive free education along with a yearly hostel allowance, significantly reducing the financial burden on families.
If students or parents are facing any difficulty in decision-making, or need complete and accurate information regarding course selection, college or university admission, or scholarship schemes like JKPMSS, they are encouraged to reach out for professional guidance.
