North India’s weather, including Delhi, is undergoing a rapid shift. On the one hand, the nighttime brings cold, while the daytime brings heat. People in Delhi-NCR claim that the heat arrived earlier than expected this time. Nevertheless, North India, including Delhi and several other regions of the nation, can shortly find reprieve from the rising daytime heat. These areas once more show evidence of a temperature decline. The Meteorological Department predicts more than light rain in several states in the next two to three days.

Delhi-NCR and parts of its environs now have temperatures greater than usual. People here have already begun to experience March-like temperatures in February itself. But seeing the clouds in Delhi on Sunday night, folks are hoping for some respite from the heat. The Meteorological Department claims Western disturbances may cause light rains in Delhi on February 19 and 20.

Probability of rain

Many areas of Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, and Telangana saw daily temperatures rise by 1 to 3 degrees Celsius. Simultaneously, various areas of Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh have seen a one- to three-degree Celsius reduction in temperature. Arunachal Pradesh should have little rain from February 17 to February 22. The Meteorological Department has meanwhile forecast significant Arunachal Pradesh rain on February 19.

Alert issued by the Meteorological Department.

The Meteorological Department has also issued an alert regarding light rain in Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, and Sikkim within the next 7 days. From the night of February 18 to February 20, a new western disturbance will probably arrive in the west of Himalayan areas and adjacent plains, whose strength will be greatest on February 19 and 20. This disturbance results in heavy rain witnessed on North India’s plains.

Alert states on snowfall

The Meteorological Department reports that between February 17 and 22, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh could experience light rain and snowfall. Also issued is a rain notice for Western Uttar Pradesh on February 20, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi on February 19, and Rajasthan on February 18 and 19. The minimum temperature in North-West India and Central India will rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius for the next 3-4 days.
