Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44)
Subject to favorable weather conditions and improved road status, Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs), passenger cars, and Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) will be allowed to travel in both directions on NH-44, from Jammu to Srinagar and vice versa. Traffic Control Units (TCU) in Jammu and Srinagar will coordinate with TCU Ramban for real-time road conditions. Travelers are advised to check updates on the Jammu & Kashmir Traffic Police’s official Twitter handle and Facebook page before starting their journey.

Security Forces Convoy Movement:
If weather permits and road conditions remain stable, movement of Security Forces’ vehicles will be allowed in both directions on NH-44 between Jammu and Srinagar.

Other Key Road Updates

  • Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag Highway (NH-244): This route remains closed for vehicular movement per the advisory issued by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Kokernag (Ref: SDM/KNG/2024-25/3139-45, dated 16-01-2025).
  • Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari (SSG) Road: If road maintenance agencies give clearance, one-way traffic will be permitted from Srinagar to Kargil. LMVs will be allowed first, followed by HMVs (up to six tires), provided they use anti-skid chains. Travel from Sonamarg to Kargil will be permitted only between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, with no exceptions beyond the cutoff time. Motorists are advised to carry anti-skid chains for better grip on slippery surfaces.
  • Mughal Road: Closed due to snow accumulation, as per the District Magistrate of Poonch’s order (Ref: DMP/JC/7273-92, dated 18-01-2025).
  • Bhaderwah-Chamba Road: Remains inaccessible due to heavy snow accumulation.
