NH-44 (Jammu–Srinagar National Highway)

Traffic on the Jammu–Srinagar Highway will remain regulated due to narrow stretches and congestion-prone areas.

  • LMVs, HPSVs, private cars and HMVs (goods carriers) will be allowed from both Jammu and Srinagar sides, depending on road conditions.
  • Commuters are advised to prefer daytime travel and avoid unnecessary night movement.
  • Strict lane discipline must be followed. Overtaking and wrong-lane driving may lead to heavy congestion.

Traffic flow will be managed by Traffic Control Units at Jammu, Srinagar and Ramban.

Security Forces Movement

Movement of Security Forces convoys on NH-44 will be allowed only after confirmation of road status by traffic authorities to ensure smooth civilian movement.

Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag Road (NH-244)

Subject to clearance from NHIDCL and fair weather conditions:

  • Only Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) will be permitted from both sides.
  • Movement will be allowed between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm from points such as PP Parana and PP Daksum.

Travellers are advised to confirm road status before departure.

SSG Road (Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari)

Traffic on SSG Road will be permitted after clearance from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO):

  • Minamarg → Srinagar: LMVs followed by HMVs from 5:00 am to 10:00 am
  • Sonamarg → Kargil: LMVs followed by HMVs from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm

No movement will be allowed beyond the cut-off timings.

Mughal Road / Poonch–Shopian Axis

Subject to fair weather and road condition:

  • LMVs and private vehicles will be allowed between Behramgala (Bafliaz) and Herpora (Shopian) during designated hours.
  • 6-tyre HMVs may be allowed from Poonch towards Shopian, while reverse movement may remain restricted.
