RCB Elect to Bowl First Against SRH on Fresh Lucknow Surface
Royal Challengers Bengaluru, under the leadership of stand-in captain Jitesh Sharma, won the toss and opted to bowl first against Sunrisers Hyderabad on a fresh pitch in Lucknow. Jitesh explained the decision was influenced by the early moisture on the surface. Phil Salt returned to the XI after recovering from a niggle, while regular captain Rajat Patidar, still unfit to field, was listed among the substitutes.
Sunrisers Hyderabad received a boost with Travis Head back in the lineup after missing the previous match due to illness. Also returning were Abhinav Manohar and Jaydev Unadkat. Mohammed Shami, who also missed the last game, was named among the substitutes and may feature when SRH bowl.
The match carried significant stakes for RCB, who had already sealed a playoff berth. With 17 points and a game in hand, they were chasing a top-two finish that would offer a valuable cushion in the playoffs. They trailed only Gujarat Titans (18 points) and were level with Punjab Kings (17 points from 12 games).
