Aiming to destroy sleeper cells and thereby disturb terror networks in the Union Territory, Jammu and Kashmir’s State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Friday conducted synchronised operations at eighteen sites across four districts.
An official statement claims that supported by local police and magistrates, specialised SIA teams ran concurrent operations. A large deal of incriminating evidence was seized during the raids.
Of the eighteen sites under target, three in Haveli tehsil of the Poonch district and twelve in the Surankote subdivision. There were more raids at one site apiece at Ramban, Ramnagar (Udhampur district), and Rajouri town (Rajouri district).
The official statement said, “A considerable amount of incriminating material has been seized and secured in accordance with established legal protocols,” noting that the material is under current assessment and more investigations are under way.
