Srinagar, May 3 – Over 51,000 medical aspirants across Jammu & Kashmir are gearing up for one of the most important exams of their lives — NEET UG 2025, scheduled for Sunday, May 4. These candidates will compete for 1,347 MBBS and 229 BDS seats across the region.
According to officials, the exam will be held at 128 centers, all located within government and central educational institutions. Of these, 107 centers are managed by the J&K Government, while 21 belong to central institutions.
Exam Locations Across 10 Districts
The examination will take place across 10 districts — six in the Kashmir division and four in the Jammu division. Cities like Jammu and Srinagar have the highest number of candidates and exam centers.
“A total of 51,510 candidates have registered this year,” said Shantmanu, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the Higher Education Department.
The authorities have implemented strict surveillance to ensure the process remains fair and transparent. Measures include CCTV monitoring, biometric verification, frisking, and proper seating arrangements.
Srinagar & Baramulla: High Turnout
- Srinagar alone has 36 centers, where 15,100 candidates will appear.
- Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, DC Srinagar, confirmed that all centers meet NTA standards, ensuring basic amenities like drinking water, comfortable seating, and proper security.
“We’ve ensured a healthy, transparent exam environment. It’s a paper-pen based test, and students should double-check their admit cards and center numbers in advance,” said Dr. Bhat.
- In Baramulla, around 3,000 students will appear across 10 centers. Local authorities are coordinating traffic management and logistics to ensure smooth conduct of the exam.
Important Exam Day Instructions
Candidates are required to report three hours before the exam begins to complete biometric formalities and other entry protocols. Authorities are urging students to arrive well in advance to avoid last-minute delays.
“Best of luck to all candidates. Reach your centers early to avoid stress,” said ACS Shantmanu.
