(Seoul/New Delhi): As we inch closer to the first “Galaxy Unpacked” event of 2026, the leaks for Samsung’s next super-flagship, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, have flooded the internet.

If you were a fan of the sharp, boxy “Note-style” design of the S24 and S25 Ultra, you might be in for a surprise. Fresh renders and case leaks from this weekend suggest Samsung is finally softening its edges.

The Big Design Change: No More Sharp Corners?

For the last few years, the “Ultra” model stood out because of its sharp, rectangular corners. That era seems to be ending.

  • The New Look: Leaked dummy units show significantly rounder corners (similar to the standard S26/S26+ models). This change is reportedly to improve “hand feel,” as the sharp corners were often criticized for digging into palms.
  • The “Unified” Camera Island: The most controversial change is the camera module. Instead of the separate “floating lens” rings we are used to, the S26 Ultra may feature a unified camera island (similar to the Fold 7 design). This raised bump is said to house the massive new sensors.

Camera & Specs: The “Ultra” Power

While the megapixel count might look familiar, the technology inside has evolved.

  • Main Camera: 200MP (ISOCELL HP3 Revised) with a new anti-reflective coating to reduce lens flare.
  • Zoom: The 5x Periscope lens returns but with a larger sensor for better night zoom.
  • Processor: The Indian variant is highly likely to ship with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 (for Galaxy), skipping the Exynos chip for the Ultra model to ensure peak performance.

Launch Timeline & Expected Price

  • Event Date: Rumors point to a late January or early February 2026 launch (likely Feb 25 based on recent supply chain reports).
  • India Availability: Pre-orders typically start within 24 hours of the global launch.
  • Expected Price: Due to rising component costs (especially the new Snapdragon chip), the S26 Ultra could start at ₹1,34,999 in India.

Tech Community Verdict

“The move to rounder corners will annoy the die-hard Note fans who loved the boxy look, but for the average user, it makes a massive 6.9-inch phone much easier to hold.” — Tech Analyst.

FAQs

Q: Will the S26 Ultra still have the S-Pen?

A: Yes. Despite the design changes, the built-in S-Pen slot remains on the bottom left (or right) of the frame. The S-Pen itself might get new “Air Action” AI features.

Q: Is the battery bigger this time?

A: Leaks suggest a slight bump to 5,400mAh (up from 5,000mAh) thanks to new stacked battery technology.
