The Meteorological Department has issued a fresh weather advisory indicating that the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir are likely to receive light snowfall between December 13 and 17. Most parts of the region are expected to experience partly cloudy conditions during this period.

According to the latest MeT bulletin, December 12 will remain partly cloudy across J&K with no major weather activity expected. Temperatures are likely to stay in the normal winter range.
❄️ Snowfall Likely in Higher Altitude Areas (Dec 13–17)
From December 13 to 17, the weather is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy, with the possibility of:
- Very light snowfall,
- At isolated higher reaches,
- Mostly during late night and early morning hours,
- Particularly in north and central Kashmir.
While widespread snowfall is not predicted, the advisory suggests that higher-altitude travel routes may experience minor fluctuations due to the light precipitation.
🌫️ Fog May Impact Visibility
The MeT Department also warned that shallow to moderate fog is likely in:
- Several areas of the Kashmir Valley
- Isolated parts of the Jammu region
This could reduce visibility during the early morning and late evening hours, potentially affecting road travel.

The weather is likely to remain partly to generally cloudy on December 18 and 19.
A fresh spell of light rain or snowfall is expected at:
- Scattered places in Kashmir, and
- Isolated locations in Jammu,
between December 20 and 21, depending on system movement.
