DySP Traffic (City) Mehboob Ahmad confirmed that the department has adopted a “Zero Tolerance” policy for roadside parking to ensure the smooth movement of emergency vehicles and devotees during the night-long prayers.

The “No Parking” Zone & Towing Warning

  • The Rule: All vehicles must use designated parking lots at Kashmir University or NIT Srinagar grounds.
  • The Consequence: Cranes have been deployed to “lift without notice” any vehicle obstructing the main road.

Route Plan for North Kashmir Devotees

To decongest the main Rainawari axis, devotees travelling from Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora must take the following diversion:

  • Route: Qamarwari → Ali Jan Road → Lal Bazar → Hazratbal.
  • Return: Same route via Lal Bazar.

Key Highlights: Shab-e-Mehraj Arrangements

  • Elderly Facility: E-Rickshaws are legally permitted to ferry pilgrims from parking lots to the Shrine gate.
  • Crowd Control: Extra personnel are deployed at the Nigeen and Lal Bazar bottlenecks.
  • Appeal: “We request the public to cooperate. Wrong parking causes jams that delay ambulances,” the DySP added.

FAQ Section:

Q: Is the road to Hazratbal closed?

A: No, the road is open for movement, but stopping is prohibited.

Q: Where is the parking for South Kashmir vehicles?

A: Vehicles from Anantnag/Pulwama are advised to route via Foreshore Road to the designated parking areas behind the shrine.
