SHARE

The Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police has issued the updated traffic plan and advisory for Thursday, December 12, covering movement on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) and other major routes including Mughal Road, SSG Road, and the Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag axis.

Contents
  • 🚦 NH-44: Jammu–Srinagar Highway Movement Plan
  • 🚗 LMV Movement (Passenger Vehicles)
  • 🚚 HMW / Load Carrier Movement
  • 1️⃣ Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag Road (NH-244)
  • 2️⃣ Mughal Road
  • 3️⃣ SSG Road (Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari)

Travelers are advised to follow the official guidelines and check the latest status before starting their journey, as several stretches remain vulnerable to weather changes, landslides, and congestion.

🚦 NH-44: Jammu–Srinagar Highway Movement Plan

NH-44 — the primary all-weather road connecting Jammu and Kashmir — will remain open for both LMVs and HMVs, subject to fair weather and good road conditions.

🔸 Key Points:

  • Slow movement is expected due to single-lane traffic at Balinalla, Dewal, Nashri–Dalwas, and Marog–Kishtwari Pather.
  • Additional delays may occur due to breakdowns of heavy vehicles in the Ramban sector.
  • Travelers must strictly follow lane discipline and avoid overtaking in narrow stretches.

The Traffic Control Units (TCUs) of Jammu, Srinagar, and Ramban will coordinate real-time updates regarding the status of the highway.

🚗 LMV Movement (Passenger Vehicles)

  • LMVs will be allowed from both sides, depending on weather clearance.
  • Travelers should cross the designated points within announced cut-off timings to avoid restrictions.
  • Delays may occur in slide-prone zones such as Ramban, Panthyal, and Nachlana.

🚚 HMW / Load Carrier Movement

  • HMVs will be allowed as per the daily schedule finalized by traffic authorities.
  • Drivers must ensure their vehicles are in good condition to prevent breakdowns in single-lane sections.

🛣️ Updates on Other Major Routes

1️⃣ Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag Road (NH-244)

  • LMVs will be allowed from both directions between designated hours (1000 to 1500 hrs), depending on weather and road status.
  • Movement beyond cut-off time will not be permitted.

2️⃣ Mughal Road

  • LMVs will be allowed from Behramgala to Herpora and Herpora to Behramgala, subject to clear weather.
  • HMVs may be permitted in limited numbers depending on route conditions.
  • Snow accumulation in higher stretches may affect movement.

3️⃣ SSG Road (Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari)

  • Movement allowed from 0500 to 1000 hrs and 1130 to 1730 hrs.
  • No traffic allowed after the cut-off timings.
  • Travelers should expect icy patches in early morning hours.

⚠️ Important Travel Advisory

Travelers are advised to:

  • Start their journey early to avoid congestion.
  • Maintain safe speed, especially in areas prone to slides.
  • Avoid unnecessary stoppages in narrow sections.
  • Follow instructions from traffic police at checkpoints.
  • Check weather forecasts before departure.
