Traffic Police Headquarters, Jammu/Srinagar
Traffic Situation (11-03-2025 to 12-03-2025):
- From 11th March 2025, 1700 hrs, to 12th March 2025, 1700 hrs, slow traffic movement was reported on NH-44 due to the breakdown of three heavy motor vehicles (HMVs). Additionally, single-lane traffic was observed at Dalwas, Mehad, and between Marog and Kishtwari Pather due to ongoing four-lane construction work.
- Passengers and LMV operators are advised to travel during the daytime on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NHW), as there is a risk of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.
- Goods carriers (HMV/LMV) transporting fresh produce or livestock are advised to load vehicles following the advisory from the Traffic Police Headquarters. This is crucial as there is single-lane traffic and poor road conditions at Dalwas, Mehad, and between Marog & Kishtwari Pather on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW.
- HMV operators and vehicle owners are requested to avoid overloading and ensure their vehicles are carrying sufficient fuel for the journey. Please check the fitness of your vehicle before traveling on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW.
- Only HMVs with six or ten tires are allowed to travel via the Dhar road.
- Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary stoppages, especially between Ramban and Banihal, near areas prone to landslides or shooting stones.
Traffic Plan & Advisory for 13-03-2025:
Jammu-Srinagar National Highway NH-44: Subject to favorable weather and road conditions, LMVs (passenger/private cars) will be allowed to travel in both directions on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44), from Jammu to Srinagar, and vice versa. However, heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) will only be allowed from the NAVYUG Tunnel (Qazigund side) towards Jammu after assessing the road condition. The Traffic Control Units (TCUs) of Jammu and Srinagar will coordinate with the TCU in Ramban for road updates. Commuters are advised to check the current status of NH-44 on the J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page.
