  • Commuters are advised to prefer daytime travel and avoid unnecessary night journeys.
  • Strict lane discipline must be followed. Overtaking and wrong-lane driving may lead to traffic congestion.

Traffic movement will be coordinated by Traffic Control Units at Jammu, Srinagar and Ramban.

Movement of Security Forces

Movement of Security Forces convoys on NH-44 will be permitted only after confirmation of road conditions by traffic authorities to ensure smooth civilian traffic flow.

  • Only Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) will be allowed from both sides.
  • Traffic movement will be permitted between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm from designated checkpoints such as PP Parana and PP Daksum.

Travellers are advised to confirm the route status before starting their journey.

SSG Road (Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari)

Traffic on the SSG Road will be allowed after clearance from the Border Roads Organisation (BRO):

  • Minamarg to Srinagar: LMVs followed by HMVs from 5:00 am to 10:00 am
  • Sonamarg to Kargil: LMVs followed by HMVs from 11:30 am to 5:30 pm

No vehicle movement will be allowed beyond the prescribed cut-off timings.

Mughal Road (Poonch–Shopian Axis)

Subject to fair weather and road conditions:

  • LMVs and private vehicles will be allowed between Behramgala (Bafliaz) and Herpora (Shopian) during designated hours.
  • 6-tyre HMVs may be permitted from Poonch towards Shopian, while reverse movement may remain restricted.
