Jammu/Srinagar: The Traffic Police Headquarters, Jammu & Kashmir has issued the traffic plan and advisory for December 20, 2025, in view of prevailing road conditions and the inclement weather forecast issued by the Meteorological Department.
Commuters are advised to carefully read and follow the advisory before planning travel.
NH-44 (Jammu–Srinagar National Highway)
From December 18 (4:00 PM) to December 19 (4:00 PM), slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to single-lane stretches at Balinalla, Dewal, Nashri–Dalwas, and between Marog and Kishtwari Pather.
Due to the prediction of snowfall and rainfall over the next few days, people are advised to undertake journeys only after confirming the road status from the Traffic Control Units at Srinagar, Ramban, and Jammu.
Passengers and LMV operators are advised to prefer daytime travel on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway. Night travel should be avoided, as the movement of heavy motor vehicles between Nashri Tunnel and Navyug Tunnel may cause inconvenience.
Commuters must strictly follow lane discipline. Overtaking and wrong-lane driving can lead to congestion and delays.

Subject to fair weather and improved road conditions, LMVs, passenger vehicles, private cars, and HMVs (goods carriers) shall be allowed from both Jammu and Srinagar sides. TCU Jammu and Srinagar will coordinate with TCU Ramban regarding road clearance.
Security Forces Convoy Movement
Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed to move from both sides on NH-44. Convoy movement shall be undertaken only after confirming the road status from TCU Ramban.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag Road (NH-244)
Subject to fair weather and clearance from NHIDCL, only light motor vehicles shall be allowed from both sides between Anantnag and Kishtwar.
Movement will be permitted between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM from PP Parana and PP Daksum.
Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari Road (SSG Road)
Subject to fair weather and clearance from BRO, traffic movement shall be allowed in a regulated manner.
Vehicles from Minamarg towards Srinagar will be allowed between 5:00 AM and 10:00 AM. Vehicles from Sonamarg towards Kargil will be allowed between 11:30 AM and 5:00 PM.
Only LMVs followed by HMVs with up to six tyres shall be allowed. No vehicle shall be permitted after the cut-off timing.
Security Forces convoys must plan their movement so that civil traffic in both directions is not disrupted.
Mughal Road (Poonch–Shopian)
Subject to fair weather and clearance from road maintenance agencies (GREF), LMVs and private passenger vehicles shall be allowed from both sides.
Movement from Behramgala (Baffliaz) will be permitted between 6:00 AM and 5:30 PM, while movement from Herpora (Shopian) will be allowed between 6:00 AM and 5:00 PM, as per the advisory issued by the District Magistrate, Poonch.
Only six-tyre HMVs shall be allowed from Poonch towards Shopian. No heavy vehicle movement will be allowed from Shopian towards Poonch.
TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar will inform all concerned regarding traffic advisories and cut-off timings.
