Jammu/Srinagar: The Traffic Police Headquarters, J&K, has issued a Traffic Plan and Advisory for December 21, 2025, warning commuters of possible delays due to weather conditions, road works, and traffic congestion on major highways.
Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44)
From December 19 (4:00 PM) to December 20 (4:00 PM), slow traffic movement was observed on NH-44 due to:
- Single-lane stretches at Balinalla, Dewal, Nashri–Dalwas, and Marog–Kishtwari Pather
- Breakdown of two heavy motor vehicles (HMVs)
With the Meteorological Department forecasting snowfall and rainfall over the next few days, travellers are advised to check road conditions before starting their journey.
Key Advisory for NH-44:
- Prefer daytime travel on the Jammu–Srinagar highway
- Avoid night travel, especially between Nashri Tunnel and Navyug Tunnel
- Nomadic migration from Kashmir towards Jammu may cause additional delays
- Follow strict lane discipline; wrong-lane driving and overtaking may lead to congestion
Subject to fair weather and improved road conditions, LMVs, passenger vehicles, private cars, and HMVs (goods carriers) will be allowed from both Jammu and Srinagar sides, with traffic coordination by TCUs Jammu, Srinagar, and Ramban.
Security Forces Convoy Movement
Security Forces vehicles will be allowed from both directions on NH-44, subject to weather and road conditions. Movement should begin only after clearance from TCU Ramban.

- Sonamarg to Kargil: 11:30 AM to 5:00 PM
- LMVs followed by HMVs (up to 6 tyres only) will be allowed
- No vehicle permitted after cut-off timings
