United for a Cause: Jammu & Kashmir NGOs Form Statewide Association to Strengthen Social Impact

Formation of Jammu & Kashmir NGOs Association

Dated: 29th April 2025

Today, several NGOs from Jammu & Kashmir held a joint meeting and officially announced the formation of a collective body named “Jammu & Kashmir NGOs Association”. This association has been established with the aim to unite registered NGOs working across the region and provide a common platform to collaborate, coordinate, and safeguard the integrity of social work in J&K.

During the meeting, multiple issues were deliberated upon, including the need to take collective action in cases where any member NGO is defamed or wrongfully targeted. The Association resolved that in such instances, appropriate steps would be taken in solidarity by the body, and individuals involved in defamation would be held accountable.

The governing body of the newly formed association was also appointed as follows:

President: Mr. Umer Wani (Chairman, We The Helping Hands Foundation)

General Secretary: Mr. Sajad Sholla (Chairman, Smile Foundation)
Additional General Secretary : Arshid Shora (Chairman Kashmir Helppage Trust)

Vice President: Mr. Tawheed Naik
Additional V – President: Mr. Shahid Nanda

Secretary: Mr. Arshid Nadvi

Spokesperson: Mr. Aaqib Parray (President, Helping Hands J&K)

Additional Spokesperson: Mr Musadiq Bashir (Chairman KYC Team)

Treasurer: Mr. Muzamil Nazir (V President We The Helping Hands Foundation

Additional Treasurer: Mr. Muzamil Najar

Media Incharge: Showket Rasool.

The core objective of this association is to strengthen cooperation among NGOs, enabling them to serve society more effectively and reach a larger number of beneficiaries. The platform also remains open to other registered NGOs, such as Baitul Maal and others, who wish to join and contribute to this unified mission.

The meeting concluded with a message of unity and a shared vision for the betterment of society through collective efforts.
