On Saturday during the Samvaad program, Congress top leader Rahul Gandhi visited party members in Ahmedabad. In a forceful statement, Gandhi stressed that the Congress has been out of office for three decades, and it cannot return to power until they start fulfilling their promises. The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha further underlined that the party needs a significant reorganization since some of the party officials treat the BJP with a soft attitude.

“We had been in control here practically thirty years ago. Gujarati people won’t help us to win the polls until we live up to their expectations. Until we perform our duties, we should not even ask the people of Gujarat to put us in power. Gandhi said, “I guarantee you that the people of Gujarat will support the Congress party on the day we do this.” ANI reported.

Gandhi also reminded the Congress employees that only committed party members could carry the party forward; two party stalwarts, Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel, were from Gujarat. He underlined that the party has fallen short of the aspirations of Gujarat people seeking a fresh vision. Gandhi also pointed out that the party must “show the door” to the officials serving BJP.

“We will do it even if we have to cut out twenty to thirty individuals. Should you be employed by the BJP from within Congress, you will be dispatched so that you may work for them candidly. You will come to see that the BJP values nothing from you. Senior leaders should have the blood of the Congress running through their veins, Gandhi underlined, forgetting about elections and winning and losing.

“They do not desire a B-Team—of the BJP.” Sifting these two groupings falls to me. Leaders in the Congress abound; we have district and block-level Babbar Shers (Asiatic Lions), but their chain runs from the rear, under the direction of the BJP,” he said.

Over the past three decades, the BJP has ruled Gujarati politics essentially. Although Congress established a government in the state last time in 1985, it could prevent the BJP from reaching the three-figure mark once, in 2017. However, when some party leaders, including Hardik Patel, joined the BJP following the 2017 polls, the party’s vote share and number of seats substantially dropped in the 2022 state assembly polls.

The grand old party has not decoded any specific subject on which the saffron party may be defeated, even while it has not been able to identify caste group leaders. Apart from this, the Aam Aadmi Party had deteriorated the party’s performance in the recent assembly polls by acquiring more than 10% vote shares.
