Introduction:
New Delhi: Pensioners under the Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS’95) can now use a free doorstep Digital Life Certificate (DLC) service instead of travelling to a bank branch or EPFO office for annual life certificate submission. The facility is being delivered through India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) using postal staff at the pensioner’s residence.

This free doorstep facility applies specifically to EPS’95 pensioners under the EPFO–IPPB arrangement.

The initiative is expected to help elderly and mobility-constrained pensioners across India, including those living in remote areas.

How the EPFO Doorstep Pension Service Works

As per official information, EPFO has tied up with India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) for doorstep DLC generation for EPS’95 pensioners, using postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks equipped with doorstep banking devices.

Under the system:

  • A pensioner requests a doorstep DLC through an IPPB channel (such as contacting the nearest post office/area postman; the SOP also mentions request options like app/WhatsApp/phone channels).
  • The postman/Dak Sevak verifies details and completes Aadhaar-based authentication (the SOP promotes Face Authentication Technology, with biometric options also referenced).
  • The Digital Life Certificate (Jeevan Pramaan/DLC) is registered and submitted digitally, helping reduce the need for pensioners to visit offices and submit paper-based life certificates.

Who Can Avail the Service and Why It Matters

The service is free for EPS’95 pensioners because EPFO bears the service cost under the EPFO–IPPB arrangement.

It can be especially useful for:

  • Senior citizens
  • Pensioners with health or mobility constraints
  • Pensioners in far-flung areas where travel to banks/offices is difficult

Once a DLC is successfully generated and approved, it is valid for 12 months, helping pensioners avoid disruption in pension payment due to pending life certificate submission.

Key Highlights

  • Service: Free doorstep Digital Life Certificate support for EPS’95 pensioners
  • Process: Home visit → Aadhaar-based authentication → DLC submission
  • Executing Agency: IPPB via postal staff, in coordination with EPFO

FAQ Section
