The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has extended the deadline for fresh admissions and re-registration for the ongoing academic session until February 15, 2025. This extension provides additional time for students who were unable to complete their admission formalities within the previous deadline.

New Four-Year Undergraduate Programmes Introduced

This year, IGNOU has launched Four-Year Undergraduate Programmes (FYUP) in various disciplines, including:

  • Commerce
  • Economics
  • History
  • Political Science
  • Public Administration
  • Sociology
  • Anthropology
  • Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu
  • Social Work
  • Philosophy
  • Biochemistry
  • Facilities and Service Management

Extensive Network of Study Centres

Prospective students can enroll through a network of study centres across the Kashmir Valley, including:

  • Government Degree Colleges
  • SKIMS
  • NIELIT
  • Composite Regional Centre Srinagar
  • Kashmir University
  • Centres in the Union Territories of Kargil and Ladakh

The Regional Centre Srinagar also functions as a special study centre for programmes unavailable at other Learner Support Centres (LSCs).

IT-Based Programmes and Industry Training

For students interested in IT and technology-related courses such as BCA, MCA, and MSCIS, NIELIT Srinagar serves as a designated study centre. In addition to academic guidance, NIELIT will provide mentorship and training programs to support entrepreneurship in the IT and electronics sector.

Official Statement from the Regional Director

Dr. A. H. Rizvi, Regional Director of IGNOU, emphasized that extending the admission and re-registration deadline will help more learners access quality education.

“Students enrolling for the January 2025 session now have until February 15, 2025, to complete their re-registration for the 2nd or 3rd year of their respective programmes,” Dr. Rizvi stated.

How to Apply

Interested students can visit the official IGNOU website (ignou.ac.in) or the Regional Centre Srinagar’s website (rcsrinagar.ignou.ac.in) for more details.

For inquiries, students may contact the Regional Centre Srinagar directly.
