Srinagar, Feb 4: Jammu and Kashmir are set to experience a fresh spell of light to moderate snowfall in higher reaches tonight, while some plains—especially in South Kashmir—may see a dusting of snow, according to weather forecasts.
In Jammu, light rain is expected in the plains, while the Chenab Valley could receive light snowfall. Meanwhile, the higher reaches of Central and North Kashmir are also likely to get snow, with a mix of light rain and snowfall in lower areas.
The weather is expected to improve from tomorrow afternoon, bringing dry conditions until February 9. However, another spell of snowfall and rain is likely between February 9 and 10.
With Chillai Kalan—the harshest 40-day winter period—now over, night temperatures in the Valley have started to rise. A gradual increase in both daytime and nighttime temperatures is expected in the coming days, with no major dip on the horizon.
