Srinagar, February 24: From the evening of February 25 to February 28, the Meteorological Department has issued an active Western Disturbance warning of expected widespread moderate rain and snowfall to Jammu & Kashmir.
An advisory states that light to moderate rain and snow will start in North and Central Kashmir on February 25 evening, progressively increasing on February 27 and 28 before subsiding. The ANH has a copy of this advisory. Along with Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Baramulla, Bandipora, Kupwara, Shopian, Qazigund-Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar, portions of South Kashmir, and the Chenab Valley, the system is likely to bring heavy snowfall in the middle and upper reaches of Kashmir.

The weather system could impact surface and air transportation, particularly on important roads, including the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, Razdan Pass, Sinthan Top, Mughal Road, and Sonamarg-Zojila axis. Travellers and transporters have been urged to plan accordingly.
Tourism & General Caution: Tourists and locals are advised to remain cautious, as the middle and higher reaches of Kashmir and hilly areas of Jammu will likely experience moderate to heavy snowfall.
Farmers Alert: We advise farmers to halt irrigation and other farm-related activities during this period.
Temperature Drop: Across the area, midday temperatures should significantly drop.
