Traffic Advisory – Jammu & Kashmir (Updated for 05-05-2025)
Issued by: Traffic Police Headquarters, J&K (Jammu/Srinagar)
Current Road Status (03 May 2025, 5:00 PM – 04 May 2025, 5:00 PM)
Traffic movement on National Highway (NH-44) remained slow due to:
- Breakdown of 3 heavy motor vehicles (HMVs)
- Movement of 5 nomadic livestock flocks
- Single-lane traffic at key points: Dalwas, Peeda, Mehad, and between Marog & Kishtwari Pather
- Ongoing four-lane construction work
At Mehad, Cafeteria, and Ramban, traffic was regulated due to a narrow 150–200 meter stretch of single-lane road. Commuters are strongly advised to:
- Avoid overtaking and wrong-lane driving
- Maintain lane discipline
- Be patient with traffic coming from the opposite side
General Advice for Travelers
- Travel during daylight hours on Jammu-Srinagar NH-44, especially between Ramban and Banihal, due to risk of shooting stones
- Goods vehicle drivers carrying perishable goods or livestock should follow traffic advisories issued regularly
- Roads at Dalwas, Mehad, Marog, and Kishtwari Pather are in poor condition
- Avoid overloading, ensure vehicles have sufficient fuel, and confirm the fitness of the vehicle before starting the journey
- Only HMVs with 6 or 10 tyres are allowed to use Dhar Road
- Refrain from unnecessary halts between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide-prone zones
Traffic Plan for 05 May 2025
