Traffic Police Headquarters, J&K – Jammu/Srinagar Updates and Advisory

Traffic Disruptions: (03-03-2025 to 04-03-2025)

Blocked Roads: The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NHW) was blocked for 15 hours due to landslides in Mehad, Ramban, between 17:00 hours on 03-03-2025 and 17:00 hours on 04-03-2025.

Slow Movement: Traffic was moving slowly due to the breakdown of HMVs on NH-44, single-lane traffic at Dalwas and Mehad, and the construction of the four-lane highway between Marog and Kishtwar Pather.

Travel Advice for Passengers and Operators

Daytime Travel is Advisable: Day travel is advisable for LMV operators and passengers using Jammu-Srinagar NHW, as there is a danger of falling stones from Ramban to Banihal.

Advice for Goods Carriers: All HMV-LMV operatives carrying fresh perishables and/or livestock are instructed to follow Traffic Police advisories, as single-lane traffic and bad road conditions exist at Dalwas, Mehad, between Marog and Kishtwar Pather.

Overloading Prohibitions: HMV operators are advised not to overload their vehicles and to carry some fuel while traveling on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. Vehicle owners should also check on the fitness of the vehicle before departure.

Restrictions on Roads for HMVs: Only HMVs with six tires and 10 tires are allowed to ply on Dhar Road.

Do Not Stop: Travellers must avoid unnecessary stops in the landslide-prone areas of Rabban to Banihal.

Subject to Weather and Road Conditions: If the weather is clear and the road is fit enough, LMVs will be allowed to ply from Jammu and Srinagar.

HMV Movement: HMVs can proceed from the NAVYUG Tunnel to Jammu once road conditions are assessed.

Coordination between TCUs: TCU Jammu/Srinagar will coordinate with TCU Ramban to assess the Road Condition. Commuters are advised to check the NH-44 status via the Twitter and Facebook accounts of the J&K Traffic Police.

Movement of Security Forces Convoy

Security Forces are requested not to move in violation of the traffic plan due to congestion, particularly on the Nashree-Banihal track. After confirming the road condition with TCU Ramban, they will proceed from Srinagar to Jammu.

Update On Road Status

Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag NH-244: Closed for vehicular movement, per order of Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Kokernag (Order No. SDM/KNG/2024-25/3139-45, dated 16-01-2025).
