TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR
- 1. The MeT department has predicted snowfall on high reaches and heavy rainfall on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) for tomorrow in J&K. We advise people not to travel on the hilly roads of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) without confirmation from TCUs.
- 2. From 26-02-2025, 1700 hrs., to 27-02-2025, 1700 hrs., there was slow movement observed on Jammu Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) due to the breakdown of HMVs, incessant rains, shooting stones at many places, single-lane traffic between Nashri and NAVYUG Tunnel, and four-lane construction work.
- 3. Passengers/LMV operators are advised to undertake the journey on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) during the daytime, as there is apprehension of shooting stones/slides between Nashri and Banihal.
- 4. Goods carrier (HMV/LMV) Operators carrying fresh perishable/livestock are advised to load their vehicles as per the advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters occasionally, as there is single-lane traffic and poor road conditions at Dalwas, Mehad, and between Marog & Kishtwari Pather on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44).
- 5. We request HMV operators/owners refrain from overloading and ensure they carry sufficient fuel during their journey on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44). It is further ordered that vehicle owners double-check the fitness of their vehicles and have enough fuel before undertaking a journey on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44).
- 6. HMVs with only 06 and 10 tires shall be allowed to ply through Dhar road.
- 7. We advise commuters to avoid halting between Ramban and Banihal, especially near the landslide/shooting stone area.
Traffic Plan And Advisory for 28-02-2025: –
Jammu Srinagar National Highway (NH-44): Given incessant rains and shooting stones at many places between Nashri and NAVYUG Tunnel, vehicular movement stopped from both sides on Jammu Srinagar National Highway (NH-44). We advise commuters to avoid travelling on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) until the weather improves and the road becomes clear. A decision shall be made tomorrow about the vehicular movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) after assessing road conditions and receiving a green signal from road maintenance agencies.
Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag NH-244:
The Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kokernag’s advisory letter no. SDM/KNG/2024-25/3139-45, dated 16-01-2025, has closed the Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road for vehicular movement.
SSG ROAD:
Snow accumulation has kept the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road closed.
Mughal Road:
Due to snow accumulation, order no. DMP/JC/7273-92 from the District Magistrate of Poonch, dated 18-01-2025, has closed Mughal Road for vehicular movement.
Bhaderwah-Chamba Road:
Bhaderwah-Chamba Road is still closed due to snow accumulation.

Traffic control units advise people to confirm the road’s status before beginning any journeys.
