How to Apply: New vs. Existing Candidates

The application process differs depending on whether you already registered for Session 1 (January).

Case A: You Appeared in Session 1 (Jan 2026)

You do NOT need to register from scratch.

  1. Log in at jeemain using your Session 1 Application Number and Password.
  2. Select “Session 2” in the dashboard.
  3. Choose your Paper Medium and Exam City (you can change these preferences).
  4. Pay the Examination Fee.

Case B: You Did Not Apply for Session 1 (New Candidate)

  1. Visit jeemain.nta.ac.in and click on “New Registration”.
  2. Generate a new Application Number.
  3. Fill in personal details, upload documents (Photo/Signature), and pay the fee.

Session 1 Result Update

Millions of students are also waiting for the January Session results.

  • Answer Key: Provisional keys are expected by February 4, 2026.
  • Final Result: Likely to be declared on February 12, 2026.

Pro Tip: Do not wait for Session 1 results to apply for Session 2. It is safer to register early to ensure you get your preferred exam city.

Why This Matters To You

  • Best of Two: The NTA considers the better of your two scores for the final merit list (AIR). Attempting Session 2 is a “risk-free” way to improve your ranking.
  • Board Exams: The April dates (2–9) are strategically placed after most Class 12 Board Exams conclude, allowing for focused revision.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: Can I change my exam city for Session 2?

A: Yes. Even if you appeared in Session 1, you can choose a different exam city for Session 2 during the application renewal process.

Q: I paid for both sessions in November 2025. Do I need to do anything?

A: No. If you already paid the fee for Session 2 during the initial registration, you are set. Your admit card will be generated automatically in March.

Q: What documents do I need to upload?

A:
Existing Candidates: None (unless updating category).
New Candidates: Scanned photograph and signature.
