Traffic Update (06-02-2025, 1700 hrs to 07-02-2025, 1700 hrs)
Traffic on NH-44 experienced slow movement due to:
- Single-lane traffic at Dalwas, Mehad, Marog, and Kishtwari Pather
- Ongoing four-lane construction work
Important Travel Advisory:
- Daytime Travel Recommended
- Passengers and LMV operators are advised to travel during the day due to the risk of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.
- Guidelines for Goods Carrier Operators
- HMV/LMV operators carrying perishable goods or livestock should follow the latest advisories issued by the Traffic Police due to road conditions.
- Single-lane traffic and poor road conditions persist at Dalwas, Mehad, Marog, and Kishtwari Pather.
- Overloading & Fuel Precautions for HMVs
- No overloading—ensure compliance to avoid disruptions.
- Carry sufficient fuel before starting the journey.
- Vehicle owners must double-check fitness and roadworthiness before travel.
- Dhar Road Restrictions
- Only HMVs with 06 and 10 tyres are allowed on Dhar Road.
- Avoid Unnecessary Stops
- Commuters should not halt unnecessarily between Ramban and Banihal, especially in landslide-prone areas.
Traffic Plan & Advisory for 08-02-2025
- Subject to fair weather and road conditions, traffic will be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NH-44.
- TCU Jammu/Srinagar will coordinate with TCU Ramban for updates.

Security Forces Convoy Movement
- If weather and road conditions permit, security force vehicles will be allowed both ways on NH-44.
Other Road Updates
- Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag NH-244
- Closed for vehicular movement as per Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kokernag’s order (No. SDM/KNG/2024-25/3139-45, dated 16-01-2025).
- SSG Road (Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari Road)
- One-way traffic allowed (Srinagar to Kargil) for LMVs followed by HMVs (up to 06 tyres).
- Vehicles will be permitted from Sonamarg to Kargil between 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
- No vehicles allowed after the cutoff time.
- Anti-skid chains are mandatory for better grip on slippery roads.
- Mughal Road
- Closed due to snow accumulation as per District Magistrate Poonch’s order (No. DMP/JC/7273-92, dated 18-01-2025).
- Bhaderwah-Chamba Road
- Closed due to snow accumulation.
