TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR

Traffic Update (06-02-2025, 1700 hrs to 07-02-2025, 1700 hrs)

Traffic on NH-44 experienced slow movement due to:

  • Single-lane traffic at Dalwas, Mehad, Marog, and Kishtwari Pather
  • Ongoing four-lane construction work

Important Travel Advisory:

  1. Daytime Travel Recommended
    • Passengers and LMV operators are advised to travel during the day due to the risk of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.
  2. Guidelines for Goods Carrier Operators
    • HMV/LMV operators carrying perishable goods or livestock should follow the latest advisories issued by the Traffic Police due to road conditions.
    • Single-lane traffic and poor road conditions persist at Dalwas, Mehad, Marog, and Kishtwari Pather.
  3. Overloading & Fuel Precautions for HMVs
    • No overloading—ensure compliance to avoid disruptions.
    • Carry sufficient fuel before starting the journey.
    • Vehicle owners must double-check fitness and roadworthiness before travel.
  4. Dhar Road Restrictions
    • Only HMVs with 06 and 10 tyres are allowed on Dhar Road.
  5. Avoid Unnecessary Stops
    • Commuters should not halt unnecessarily between Ramban and Banihal, especially in landslide-prone areas.

Traffic Plan & Advisory for 08-02-2025

  • Subject to fair weather and road conditions, traffic will be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NH-44.
  • TCU Jammu/Srinagar will coordinate with TCU Ramban for updates.
  • Stay updated: Follow J&K Traffic Police on Twitter and Facebook for real-time status.

Security Forces Convoy Movement

  • If weather and road conditions permit, security force vehicles will be allowed both ways on NH-44.

Other Road Updates

  1. Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag NH-244
    • Closed for vehicular movement as per Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kokernag’s order (No. SDM/KNG/2024-25/3139-45, dated 16-01-2025).
  2. SSG Road (Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari Road)

    • No vehicles allowed after the cutoff time.
    • Anti-skid chains are mandatory for better grip on slippery roads.
