Road Conditions & Advisory (05-02-2025 to 06-02-2025)
The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) witnessed slow movement due to:
- Breakdown of three heavy motor vehicles (HMVs).
- Single-lane traffic at Dalwas, Mehad, and sections between Marog and Kishtwari Pather.
- Ongoing four-lane construction work.
Important Travel Advisory
🚦 Daytime Travel Recommended: Passengers and LMV operators should travel during daylight hours to avoid risks from shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.
🚛 For Goods Carriers: HMV and LMV operators carrying perishables or livestock must follow traffic advisories due to single-lane movement and poor road conditions at Dalwas, Mehad, and Marog-Kishtwari Pather.
⚠️ Overloading Alert: HMV operators are urged to avoid overloading and ensure sufficient fuel for the journey. Vehicles must be checked for roadworthiness before travel.
🚛 Dhar Road Access: Only HMVs with 6 and 10 tyres will be permitted via Dhar Road.
⛔ Avoid Unnecessary Stops: Commuters should refrain from halting between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide-prone areas.

✔ NH-44 Movement:
- LMVs (passenger/private cars) and HMVs will be allowed from both Jammu and Srinagar, subject to fair weather and road conditions.
- Traffic Control Units (TCUs) in Jammu and Srinagar will coordinate with TCU Ramban for real-time updates.
- Commuters should check the J&K Traffic Police Twitter & Facebook pages for the latest status.
✔ Security Forces Convoy:
- SF vehicles will be allowed from both Jammu and Srinagar, depending on weather and road conditions.
Other Key Road Updates
🚫 Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag Road (NH-244): Closed as per official advisory from SDM Kokernag.
🚘 Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari Road (SSG):
- One-way traffic for LMVs followed by HMVs (up to 6 tyres) from Kargil to Srinagar (only with anti-skid chains).
- Vehicles will be permitted from Minamarg to Srinagar between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
- No entry after cutoff time.
❄ Mughal Road & Bhaderwah-Chamba Road:
- Both remain closed due to snow accumulation as per official orders.
