SRINAGAR — The wait is finally over for thousands of defense aspirants in Jammu & Kashmir. In a massive New Year recruitment drive, the J&K Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has officially released the notification for 1,815 Police Constable (Executive) posts.

If you have passed your 10th standard and dream of wearing the uniform, this is your biggest opportunity of 2026. The online application window opens in just two weeks on January 19, 2026.

Here is everything you need to know—from the district-wise breakdown to the step-by-step application process.

The Big Breakdown: Jammu vs Kashmir

The 1,815 vacancies are split between the two divisions, offering equal opportunities across the Union Territory.

  • Jammu Division: 934 Posts
  • Kashmir Division: 881 Posts
  • Department: Home Department (J&K Police)
  • Pay Scale: Level-2 (₹19,900 – ₹63,200)

Note: You must be a Domicile of J&K to apply. Candidates from other states are not eligible.

Am I Eligible? (Quick Check)

Before you rush to the cyber cafe, ensure you meet these three critical criteria:

1. Education Qualification You simply need to be Matriculate (10th Pass) from a recognized board. No extra technical degree is required.

2. Age Limit (As of Jan 1, 2025)

  • General/Open Merit: 18 to 28 years.
  • In-Service Police Personnel: Up to 30 years.
  • SPOs & Volunteer Home Guards (VHGs): Up to 40 years.
  • (Relaxations apply for SC/ST/EWS categories as per government rules).

3. Physical Standards

  • Men: Minimum Height 5’6” | Chest 32” (unexpanded).
  • Women: Minimum Height 5’2”.
  • (Relaxation of 2 inches available for candidates from Gorkha community).

Step-by-Step: How to Apply Online

The application link will be active from January 19, 2026. Follow this exact process to avoid rejection:

  1. Visit the Official Portal: Go to jkssb.nic.in.
  2. One-Time Registration (OTR): If you are a new user, click on “Candidate Registration” and create your profile using your email and mobile number.
  3. Login: Use your credentials to log in to the dashboard.
  4. Find the Job: Look for “Advertisement Notification No. 01 of 2026” (Constable Executive).
  5. Fill Details: Enter your personal data, educational marks, and choose your Cadre (Jammu or Kashmir) preference carefully.
  6. Upload Documents: Scanned photo, signature, and 10th marksheet (ensure size is under 50KB).
  7. Pay Fee:
    • ₹700 for General/OM.
    • ₹600 for SC/ST/EWS.
  8. Print: After submission, download the PDF receipt. Do not send a hard copy to the JKSSB office; just keep it safe.

Selection Process: What Comes First?

Don’t just prepare for the physical test; the Written Exam comes first!

  1. Written Examination: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Negative marking of 0.25 applies.
  2. Physical Standard Test (PST): Measurement of Height & Chest.
  3. Physical Endurance Test (PET):
    • Male: 1600m run in 6.5 mins + 20 Pushups.
    • Female: 1000m run in 6.5 mins + Shot Put (4kg).

Q: Can a 12th pass student apply?

A: Yes! The minimum requirement is 10th pass. Having higher qualifications like 12th or Graduation is perfectly fine.

Q: Is there an interview?

A: No. As per recent government reforms, there is no interview for Class-IV and non-gazetted posts. Selection is based purely on the Written Exam merit, provided you pass the physical test.

Q: Can I apply for both Jammu and Kashmir divisions?

A: You will likely have to indicate your preference in the form. Usually, the merit is drawn based on the Division Cadre you opt for.

Q: What is the last date?

A: The link closes on February 17, 2026. Do not wait for the last day as servers often crash.
