Jammu and Kashmir are expected to experience fresh snowfall on Tuesday due to a new Western Disturbance, with moderate to heavy snowfall predicted in southern parts of Kashmir until February 5.
The Director of the Meteorological Department, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, forecasts generally cloudy weather with light to moderate rain and snow at various locations until February 5th forenoon.
Improvement is anticipated from the afternoon of February 5, with higher reaches of Chenab Valley and Pirpanjal Range potentially receiving 8-10 inches of snow. From February 6 to 8, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy and generally dry, with light rain and snow expected at isolated places on February 9.
The weather from February 10-11 will likely be generally cloudy with light rain and snow in scattered areas. The region recorded a significant rainfall deficit in January, with only 11.5 mm of precipitation against the normal 88.2 mm.
An advisory has been issued for tourists, travelers, and transporters to follow administration and traffic guidelines.
