Bilal Ahmed, a math teacher from Srinagar, is about to launch Kashmir’s first solar-powered car, RAY, on February 10. Despite financial challenges, he managed to develop this innovative vehicle on his own.
- Self-Funded Innovation: Bilal spent Rs 20-22 lakhs on the project without any financial help from sectors or the local government. Though Mahindra showed interest, technicalities prevented collaboration, so he funded it all himself.
- Advanced Features: RAY is a 1kW solar-powered car with high-tech solar panels, a Battery Management System (BMS), and intelligent sensors for autonomous parking. It also has power-generating gull-wing doors and music-responsive lights.
Global Recognition: Bilal’s work has been recognized globally, with publications in over six countries. Prominent figures, including Anand Mahindra and Omar Abdullah, have praised his efforts, with many comparing him to Elon Musk.
