Mumbai Airport News: Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport has adopted advanced payment modes such as UPI and FASTag to enhance traffic flow at the multi-level car parking. Passengers now have options for parking payments ranging from debit/credit card to FASTag to digital wallet and UPI.
Making such a choice furthers the aim of the Centre’s ‘Digital India‘ Initiative to lessen traffic congestion, minimize wait times, and ensure the convenience of passengers while parking.
Currently, 66% prefer FASTag, 10-15% UPI, credit or debit cards, and 5% are pre-booked. CSMIA is also working towards a further reduced cash flow by partnering with the stakeholders to promote automated payment forms after getting 85% success already with passengers on digital modes. A few central payment stations are projected to process the transactions for passengers who want to pay with cash.
FASTag enables all customer lanes to have a FASTag counter at the entrance and exit for enhanced movement. Passengers can now enjoy automated parking, free of manual intervention, at the MLCP of Mumbai Airport due to the growing preference for cashless transactions.
