The Traffic Police Headquarters, J&K, has issued a detailed traffic plan and advisory for December 22, 2025, warning commuters of slow movement and road closures due to single-lane stretches and fresh snowfall predictions.
Slow Movement Reported on NH-44
Between December 20 (4:00 PM) and December 21 (4:00 PM), traffic movement on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) remained slow at multiple locations, including:
- Balinalla
- Dewal
- Nashri–Dalwas
- Marog–Kishtwari Pather
Authorities also reported the breakdown of three heavy motor vehicles (HMVs), adding to congestion on the highway.
Snowfall Forecast: Travel Only After Confirmation
With the Meteorological Department forecasting snowfall and rainfall over the next few days, commuters are strongly advised to:
- Travel only after confirming road status
- Check updates from Traffic Control Units (TCUs) in Jammu, Ramban, and Srinagar
- Follow official updates on J&K Traffic Police social media channels
Day Travel Strongly Recommended
Passengers and LMV operators are advised to:
- Prefer daytime travel on NH-44
- Avoid night journeys, especially between Nashri Tunnel and Navyug Tunnel, where heavy vehicle movement may cause inconvenience
Strict lane discipline is essential, as wrong-lane driving and overtaking can quickly lead to long traffic jams.
