SRINAGAR: The fresh snowfall that brought joy to tourists in Gulmarg has brought misery to flyers at Srinagar Airport. Continuous snowfall combined with dense fog has forced the Airport Authority of India (AAI) to put morning operations on hold today, January 5, 2026.

As of 12:30 PM, the runway visibility is fluctuating. While the Beacon lights are fully operational, the Runway Visual Range (RVR) remains below the safety threshold for landing.

“Wait and Watch”

“We have not closed the airport, but delays are inevitable,” a senior airport official said. “Snow clearance machines are working non-stop on the runway. We expect operations to resume fully by 2:00 PM if the weather improves.”
