Traffic Advisory for January 31, 2025 Updates on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44)

Jammu-Srinagar NH-44 Status:
Depending on favorable weather conditions and road conditions, Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs), passenger/private cars, and Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) will be permitted to travel in both directions on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44). The Traffic Control Units (TCUs) of Jammu and Srinagar will coordinate with TCU Ramban for real-time road assessments. Travelers are advised to check the latest updates on the J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page before planning their journey.

Security Forces Movement:
If weather and road conditions allow, Security Forces’ convoys will be permitted to travel in both directions on NH-44, between Jammu and Srinagar.

Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag NH-244:
This route remains closed for vehicular movement as per the advisory issued by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Kokernag, under order number SDM/KNG/2024-25/3139-45 dated January 16, 2025.

Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari (SSG) Road:
Subject to favorable weather and clearance from road maintenance agencies, one-way traffic will be allowed on the SSG Road. LMVs will be followed by HMVs (up to six tyres) from Kargil towards Srinagar. These vehicles will be permitted to move from Minamarg to Srinagar between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. No vehicles will be allowed beyond the cut-off time. Motorists must carry anti-skid chains to navigate slippery road conditions.

Mughal Road:
The Mughal Road remains closed for vehicular traffic due to heavy snow accumulation, as per the District Magistrate Poonch’s order (DMP/JC/7273-92) dated January 18, 2025.

Bhaderwah-Chamba Road:
The Bhaderwah-Chamba Road continues to be inaccessible due to snow accumulation.

Before embarking on a journey, commuters are strongly advised to confirm the latest road status by contacting the following Traffic Control Units:

Travelers are urged to prioritize safety and stay updated with official advisories before commencing their journeys.
