The Traffic Police Headquarters, Jammu and Kashmir, has released the latest traffic plan and advisory for Tuesday, December 17, 2025, outlining vehicle movement permissions and safety guidelines for key routes including NH-44 (Jammu–Srinagar Highway), SSG Road, the Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag Road, and the Mughal Road/Poonch-Shopian axis. The advisory is subject to weather and road conditions.
Jammu Srinagar National Highway (NH-44)
Traffic authorities have scheduled regulated movement on the Jammu–Srinagar stretch of NH-44:
- Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs), heavy passenger service vehicles (HPSVs), private cars, and heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) will be allowed in both directions, depending on road conditions.
- Commuters are advised to prefer daylight travel and avoid unnecessary night journeys due to narrow sections and potential congestion.
- Strict lane discipline and adherence to traffic police instructions are essential to prevent traffic snarls.
Traffic controllers in Jammu, Srinagar, and Ramban will manage vehicle flows throughout the day.
Security Forces Convoy Movement
Security forces convoys will be permitted movement on NH-44 only after official clearance of road conditions by traffic authorities to minimise disruptions to civilian traffic.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag Road (NH-244)
Movement on the Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag Road will depend on weather and the “green signal” from the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL):
- LMVs will be allowed from both ends.
- Movement is permitted between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm at designated points such as PP Parana and PP Daksum.
Travellers should check the current road status before departing.
SSG Road (Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari)
Traffic on SSG Road will be allowed in a controlled manner:
- Minamarg to Srinagar: LMVs followed by HMVs between 05:00 am and 10:00 am
- Sonamarg to Kargil: LMVs followed by HMVs between 11:30 am and 05:30 pm
No vehicles will be allowed beyond these cut-off times.
Mughal Road / Poonch–Shopian Axis
Subject to fair weather and clearance from road authorities:
- LMVs and private vehicles will be permitted between Behramgala (Bafliaz) and Herpora (Shopian) during designated hours.
