Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44)

  • Subject to fair weather and improved road conditions, LMVs (passenger/private cars) and HMVs will be allowed to travel in both directions on NH-44—from Jammu to Srinagar and vice versa.
  • The Traffic Control Units (TCUs) in Jammu and Srinagar will coordinate with the TCU in Ramban for real-time road condition updates.
  • Commuters are advised to check the latest traffic status on the J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page before traveling.

Security Forces Convoy Movement

  • If weather and road conditions permit, security forces’ vehicles will also be allowed to move in both directions on NH-44.

Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag Road (NH-244)

  • This route remains closed as per the Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kokernag’s advisory (Ref: SDM/KNG/2024-25/3139-45, dated 16-01-2025).

Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari (SSG) Road

  • Current Status: Snowfall in progress
  • Planned Movement (Subject to Clearance):
    • If weather and road conditions improve, only one-way traffic will be allowed from Srinagar towards Kargil.
    • LMVs will be allowed first, followed by HMVs (up to six tyres) with anti-skid chains.
    • Traffic window: Vehicles can move from Sonamarg to Kargil between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. No movement will be permitted after the cutoff time.
    • Advisory: All motorists must carry anti-skid chains to navigate slippery roads safely.

Mughal Road

  • Closed for vehicular movement due to heavy snow accumulation, as per the District Magistrate Poonch’s order (Ref: DMP/JC/7273-92, dated 18-01-2025).

Bhaderwah-Chamba Road

  • Remains closed due to snow accumulation.
