LUCKNOW – In a massive “New Year Gift” for defence aspirants, the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) has officially released the notification for the recruitment of 32,679 Constables and Jail Warders. The application window is now open as of December 31, 2025, and will close strictly on January 30, 2026, with authorities emphasizing the new mandatory “One Time Registration” (OTR) process.

Key Highlights

  • Total Posts: 32,679 (Including Civil Police, PAC, and Jail Warder).
  • Deadline: Online applications close on January 30, 2026.
  • Major Change: Candidates MUST complete OTR (One Time Registration) on the official portal before applying.
  • Eligibility: 12th Pass (Intermediate) from a recognized board.
  • Age Limit Controversy: Protests have erupted demanding a 3-year age relaxation for General Category aspirants.

Vacancy Breakdown & Process

The Numbers Game According to the official notification (Advt. No. 07/2025), the recruitment drive aims to fill critical gaps in the state’s security infrastructure. This follows the successful completion of the 60,000-post drive earlier in 2025.

Post NameVacancies
Constable (PAC / Armed Police)15,131
Constable (Civil Police)10,469
Jail Warder (Male)3,279
Women Battalion2,282
Special Security Force (SSF)1,341
Total32,679

Application Process via OTR The UPPRPB has overhauled the application system. Aspirants must first generate an OTR profile on uppbpb.gov.in using their Aadhaar card. Only after OTR verification can the specific application form for “Constable Recruitment 2026” be filled. This move aims to weed out duplicate applicants and streamline document verification.

Official Statements

From the Government: “This recruitment is part of CM Yogi Adityanath’s mission to strengthen law and order. We have ensured a transparent, technology-driven process to select the best candidates,” stated a senior official from the Home Department.

On Age Relaxation: While the notification sets the age limit at 18-22 for General males, opposition leaders and student unions are pushing back. “Thousands of youth missed out due to delayed cycles. A one-time relaxation is a matter of justice,” said a representative from a student union in Allahabad.

Impact: A Golden Opportunity

For the youth of Uttar Pradesh, especially in rural belts, this recruitment is a lifeline. With a pay scale of Level-3 (₹21,700 basic), it offers stability and prestige. However, the mandatory OTR requirement may cause initial tech hurdles for candidates in remote areas, making Common Service Centres (CSCs) vital in the coming weeks.

FAQs: UP Police 2026 Recruitment

Q: What is the last date to apply?

A: The application link will be deactivated on January 30, 2026 (11:59 PM).

Q: Is OTR compulsory for everyone?

A: Yes. Even if you applied in previous years, you must register for OTR afresh for this cycle.

Q: Can candidates from other states apply?

A: Yes, but they will be treated as “General Category” candidates regardless of their caste status in their home state.

Q: Is there negative marking in the exam?

A: Reports suggest changes to the marking scheme. Candidates are strictly advised to read the official “Instructions to Candidates” in the PDF carefully before the exam.

Disclaimer: This news report is based on the official notification released by UPPRPB on Dec 31, 2025. Dates and vacancy counts are subject to official revision. Please verify details at uppbpb.gov.in.
