NH‑44 status

From 08‑11‑2025 at 1600 hrs to 09‑11‑2025 at 1600 hrs, traffic moved slowly on NH‑44 due to single‑lane stretches at Balinalla, Dewal, Nashri–Dalwas, and between Marog and Kishtwari Pather, compounded by the breakdown of two HMVs between Marog and Kishtwari Pather.
Subject to fair weather and road conditions, LMVs (Passenger/HPSVs/Private Cars) and HMVs (goods carriers) will be permitted in both directions on the Jammu–Srinagar NH‑44, with TCU Jammu and TCU Srinagar coordinating road status with TCU Ramban.

Travel advice

Passengers and LMV operators should plan daytime travel on the Jammu–Srinagar NHW and avoid night journeys because HMV movements between the Nashri and NAVYUG tunnels and nomad migration may cause delays and inconvenience.
Maintain lane discipline at all times; avoid overtaking and wrong‑lane driving to prevent congestion and ensure smoother flow.

Security forces movement

If weather and road conditions are favorable, Security Forces convoys will be allowed both ways on NH‑44, with departures only after confirming the latest status from TCU Ramban.

Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag (NH‑244)

Subject to fair weather and after a green signal from NHIDCL, only LMVs will be allowed both ways between Anantnag and Kishtwar, with vehicles permitted from PP Parana toward Anantnag between 0800–1500 hrs and from PP Daksum toward Kishtwar between 0900–1500 hrs, as per SDM Chhatroo order No. SDM/C/2025‑26/530‑37 (15‑09‑2025) and SDM Kokernag order No. SDM/KNG/665‑71 (16‑05‑2025).

SSG Road (Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari)

With fair weather and a green signal from BRO, traffic will move in a regulated manner, allowing LMVs followed by HMVs from Minamarg toward Srinagar between 0500–1000 hrs, and from Sonamarg toward Kargil between 1130–1730 hrs, with no movement after cutoff times.
Security Forces convoys must plan their movement to avoid disrupting civilian traffic in either direction along this corridor.

Mughal Road (Shopian–Poonch via Bafliaz)

Subject to fair weather and the go‑ahead from GREF, LMV passengers and private cars are allowed both ways via Poonch, with timings from Behramgala (Bafliaz) 0600–1730 hrs and from Herpora (Shopian) 0600–1700 hrs as per District Magistrate Poonch order No. DMP/J/9291‑9318 dated 31‑08‑2025.
Only six‑tyre HMVs will be permitted from Poonch toward Shopian, and no HMV will be allowed from Shopian toward the Mughal Road, with TCUs informing all stakeholders about the advisory and cut‑off timings.

Confirm before travel

Undertake journeys only after confirming the current road status with the following Traffic Control Units:

  • Jammu: 0191‑2459048, 0191‑2740550, 9419147732, 103
  • Srinagar: 0194‑2450022, 2485396, 18001807091, 103
  • Ramban: 9419993745, 1800‑180‑7043
  • Udhampur: 8491928625
  • PCR Kishtwar: 9906154100
  • PCR Kargil: 9541902330, 9541902331
