TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR

1. From 17-02-2025, 1700 hrs., to 18-02-2025, 1700 hrs., there was slow movement observed on NH-44 due to single-lane traffic at Dalwas, Mehad, between Marog and Kishtwari Pather, and four-lane construction work.

2. Passengers/LMV operators are advised to undertake the journey on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) during the daytime, as there is apprehension of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.

3. Goods carrier (HMV/LMV) Operators carrying fresh perishable/livestock are advised to load their vehicle as per the advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters from time to time, as there is single-lane traffic and poor road conditions at Dalwas, Mehad, and between Marog & Kishtwari Pather on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44).

4. We request HMV operators/owners refrain from overloading and ensure they carry sufficient fuel during their journey on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44). It is further ordered that vehicle owners double-check the fitness of their vehicles and have enough fuel before undertaking a journey on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44).

5. HMVs with only 06 and 10 tyres shall be allowed to ply through Dhar road.

6. We advise commuters to avoid halting between Ramban and Banihal, especially near the landslide/shooting stone area.

Traffic Plan & Advisory for 19-02-2025: Jammu Srinagar National Highway (NH-44)

Subject to fair weather and better road conditions, both sides of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) shall allow LMVs, passenger/private cars, and HMVs from Jammu to Srinagar and vice versa. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban for road conditions. We request commuters to check the status of NH-44 on the J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page.

SFs Convoy Movement: –

Subject to fair weather and excellent road conditions, Security Forces vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44), viz., Jammu towards Srinagar and vice versa.

Kishtwar- Sinthan- Anantnag NH-244: –

The Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kokernag’s advisory letter no. SDM/KNG/2024-25/3139-45, dated 16-01-2025, has closed the Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road for vehicular movement.

SSG ROAD: –

Subject to fair weather and excellent road conditions (after getting a green signal from road maintenance agencies), only one-way traffic for LMVs followed by HMVs (up to 06 tires) with anti-skid chains from Srinagar towards Kargil shall be allowed on the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road. We will enable these vehicles to travel from Sonamarg to Kargil between 1000 and 1500 hours. The cutoff timing will apply to all vehicles. Motorists are advised to carry anti-skid chains to gain more grip on the slippery road.

Mughal Road: –

Due to snow accumulation, District Magistrate Poonch’s order no. DMP/JC/7273-92, dated 18-01-2025, has closed Mughal Road for vehicular movement.

Bhaderwah-Chamba Road: –

Bhaderwah-Chamba Road is still closed due to snow accumulation.

ADVISORY: –

Traffic control units advise people to start their journey only after verifying the road’s status.
