J&K Traffic Update & Travel Advisory for 09 December 2025
NH-44 (Jammu–Srinagar National Highway)
Between 07-12-2025 (1600 hrs) and 08-12-2025 (1600 hrs), traffic on NH-44 moved slowly due to:

- Single-lane stretches at Balinalla, Dewal, Nashri–Dalwas, and Marog–Kishtwari Pather
- Breakdown of three HMVs, causing additional congestion
General Advisory for Passengers & LMVs
- Prefer daytime travel on Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44).
- Avoid night travel due to:
- Continuous movement of HMVs between Nashri Tunnel and NAVYUG Tunnel
- Migration of nomadic groups from Kashmir to Jammu
- Follow lane discipline. Wrong-lane driving or overtaking may increase congestion.
Traffic Plan for 09-12-2025
Subject to fair weather and road conditions:
- LMVs, HPSVs, Private Cars, and Goods HMVs will be allowed from both sides (Jammu ↔ Srinagar) on NH-44.
- TCU Jammu/Srinagar will coordinate with TCU Ramban for updates on road status.
Security Forces Convoy Movement
- SF convoys will be permitted both ways, depending on weather and road conditions.
- Movement must only begin after confirmation from TCU Ramban.
Kishtwar–Sinthan–Anantnag Road (NH-244)
- With fair weather and NHIDCL clearance, only LMVs will be allowed from both sides (Anantnag ↔ Kishtwar).
- Movement will be regulated from:
- PP Parana
- PP Daksum
- Timing: 1000 hrs to 1500 hrs
SSG Road (Srinagar–Sonamarg–Gumari)
Movement will be allowed in a regulated manner, subject to BRO clearance:
Minamarg → Srinagar:
- LMVs followed by HMVs
- Timing: 0500 hrs to 1000 hrs
Sonamarg → Kargil:
- LMVs followed by HMVs
- Timing: 1130 hrs to 1730 hrs
No movement will be permitted after cutoff times.
SF convoys must plan their travel to ensure no disturbance to civilian traffic in both directions.
Mughal Road
With suitable weather and GREF clearance:
- LMVs (Passengers/Private Cars) will be allowed both ways (Jammu ↔ Srinagar) via Poonch.
- Timings:
- From Behramgala (Baffliaz): 0600–1730 hrs
- From Herpora (Shopian): 0600–1700 hrs
- As per DM Poonch order No. DMP/J/9291-9318 dated 31-08-2025
- HMVs (six tyres only) will be allowed from Shopian → Poonch
- No HMV movement from Poonch → Shopian
TCU Jammu and Srinagar will share cutoff timings and advisory details with all concerned.
